Paul Millsap retires after 16 NBA seasons

NBA veteran forward Paul Millsap is retiring, he told ESPN's Shams Charania on Tuesday.

Millsap last played in the NBA for the Philadelphia 76ers during the 2021-22 season.

The versatile forward became an instant rotation player for Jerry Sloan after the Utah Jazz drafted him 47th overall in 2006. Following seven seasons in Utah, Millsap joined the Atlanta Hawks as a free agent in 2013. The 39-year-old earned an All-Star nod in all four campaigns he played with the Hawks, averaging 17.4 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.7 steals, and 1.2 blocks.

Atlanta reached the playoffs every season during Millsap's tenure, including winning a franchise-best 60 games in 2014-15.

Millsap also spent three campaigns with the Denver Nuggets and one year with the Brooklyn Nets.

Over 16 seasons, he averaged 13.4 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.2 steals, and a block.
