KD returns for Team USA's Olympic opener vs. Serbia
Kevin Durant returned for the Americans' Olympic-opening match against Serbia.
The Phoenix Suns superstar came off the bench in the first quarter after missing all of Team USA's exhibition matches due to a calf injury.
USA Basketball head coach Steve Kerr said Sunday he was "hopeful" Durant would suit up after participating in three straight practices.
Durant is the Stars & Stripes' all-time men's scoring leader in Olympic play. He's looking to become the first four-time Olympic gold medalist in men's basketball.
Durant represented the United States at each of the previous three Games as well as the 2010 FIBA World Cup. He was named Tournament MVP at the 2020 Olympics after averaging 20.7 points, 5.3 boards, and 3.7 assists.
The Americans will also square off against South Sudan on Wednesday and conclude group play Saturday versus Puerto Rico.
