Drazen Petrovic voted best European player ever

The late Croatian point guard Drazen Petrovic was voted as the top European basketball player of all time in a poll conducted among 38 of this year's FIBA EuroBasket participants.

Petrovic won three Olympic medals between 1984 and 1992, won the Euroleague on two occasions, and spent four seasons in the NBA with both the Portland Trail Blazers and the New Jersey Nets. His time in the NBA is widely considered as a huge stepping stone for European players joining the league.

Tony Parker, Arvydas Sabonis, Dejan Bodiroga, and Dirk Nowitzki rounded out the top five.

Interestingly, in a poll where players voted for five Europeans each, Detlef Schrempf, Predrag Stojakovic, and Zydrunas Ilgauskas were all snubbed and didn't receive a single vote.
