Philadelphia 76ers superstar Joel Embiid is determined to return this season as he recovers from a knee injury.
Embiid expressed that so long as he's healthy enough to suit up, he'll be in the 76ers' lineup.
"It's the same mindset: If I feel good, I'm playing," Embiid told reporters, including The Philadelphia Inquirer's Keith Pompey.
Embiid declined to offer a timeline on his recovery from a procedure to his left meniscus that he underwent in early February. It was reported at the time that he would be re-evaluated in four weeks.
He was in line for a second straight MVP nod this season, averaging 35.3 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 5.7 assists in 34 appearances. Because of his near month-long absence, he will not meet the 65-game eligibility requirement for the league's top individual award.
The 76ers have sputtered without their best player, going 4-8 since Embiid last played against the Golden State Warriors on Jan. 30.
Philadelphia has slipped to sixth in the Eastern Conference with a 33-25 record and is 0.5 games ahead of the 8-seed Orlando Magic.
