Beverley: Scott Foster is my 'favorite ref'
Warning: Story contains coarse language
Scott Foster is known for being one of the most disliked referees in the NBA, but there's one player who holds him in high regard.
Milwaukee Bucks guard Patrick Beverley revealed on a recent episode of "The Pat Bev Podcast" that Foster is his favorite referee because the 56-year-old can tell if he's being disrespectful or not. He also shared a story about an exchange he had with Foster after he called an eight-second violation late in a game.
"'Hey Scott, don't make me call Chris Paul on your ass,'" Beverley recalled telling Foster, referencing the referee's longtime feud with Paul. "His response ... 'Pat, Chris Paul ain't got your number.'
"Like, he know what the fuck going on. Scott is my favorite ref. I love how you call the game. If I say some shit, tech me, but you know if I'm being disrespectful. You know, if I use curse words, you can feel if I'm being disrespectful."
Foster is one of the longest-tenured referees in the NBA, having worked for the league for 30 seasons. He's officiated more than 1,600 regular-season games and 200 playoff matchups, including 24 NBA Finals.
