The Milwaukee Bucks have signed free-agent center Meyers Leonard to a 10-day contract, the team announced.

Leonard last played in the NBA with the Miami Heat on Jan. 9, 2021, before being ruled out for the remainder of the 2020-21 season due to shoulder surgery.

The Heat suspended him during his recovery for using an antisemitic slur during a livestream. Miami later traded him to the Oklahoma City Thunder, who subsequently released him. The NBA also suspended the 30-year-old for one week and fined him $50,000 following an investigation.

Leonard apologized on social media to the Jewish community the day after using the slur, stating he was "deeply sorry" and adding he was ignorant about the word's history and severity.

The 30-year-old has since continued rehabbing his injuries, including an ankle ailment that required surgery in April 2021. That procedure revealed nerve damage in his right leg, which the center said began healing last April.

Leonard reportedly worked out for the Los Angeles Lakers in January.

Originally selected 11th overall by the Portland Trail Blazers in 2012, Leonard owns career averages of 5.6 points and 3.9 rebounds across 447 games.
