Houston Rockets guard Kevin Porter Jr. agreed to a four-year, $82.5-million contract extension, his agent told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Only the first year of his deal is fully guaranteed for $15.86 million, The Athletic's Shams Charania reports. The contract includes June trigger dates to guarantee his salary, but the deal allows the Rockets to release Porter without paying the full amount, Charania adds.

Porter has averaged 15.9 points, 6.2 assists, 4.2 rebounds, and a steal in two seasons with the Rockets. The 22-year-old has played both guard spots in his tenure with Houston, but he shifted to point guard after the franchise drafted Jalen Green last year.

The Rockets acquired Porter from the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2021 after he had an outburst in the locker room, including a confrontation with general manager Koby Altman, because his locker had been moved for the newly acquired Taurean Prince.

Houston begins its season on the road against the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET.
