The San Antonio Spurs traded All-Star point guard Dejounte Murray and center Jock Landale to the Atlanta Hawks for veteran wing Danilo Gallinari and multiple first-round picks, the Hawks announced Thursday.

San Antonio will receive a first-rounder in 2023 via the Charlotte Hornets, the Hawks' first-round picks in 2025 and 2027, and the option for a pick swap in 2026.

The Spurs are expected to waive Gallinari following his acquisition, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports.

Murray put together a breakout campaign in 2021-22, averaging 21.1 points, 8.2 rebounds, 9.2 assists, and a league-leading 2.0 steals per game, netting him his first All-Star appearance.

The 25-year-old will now team up with fellow star guard Trae Young in Atlanta, forming one of the most potent backcourts in the NBA. Young and Murray ranked third and fourth, respectively, in assists per game last season.

With Young regarded as one of the top scorers at the guard position, and Murray known for his menacing defense, Atlanta's balanced lineup - also featuring rising forwards De'Andre Hunter and John Collins - will look to propel the club to its third straight playoff appearance.

Meanwhile, San Antonio will focus on a full-fledged rebuild with an added influx of draft picks. The Spurs currently roster one player who averaged over 13.5 points per game last season.
