Warriors' Wiseman cleared for G League action, will play 2 games
Golden State Warriors center James Wiseman has been cleared for the next phase of his rehabilitation from a knee injury, the team announced Tuesday.
The 20-year-old will appear in a pair of games with the G League's Santa Cruz Warriors - against the Stockton Kings on Thursday and the G League Ignite on Sunday.
After being selected second overall out of Memphis in 2020, Wiseman averaged 11.5 points - on an effective field-goal rate of 53.5% - and 5.8 rebounds in 21.4 minutes per game. The 7-footer's rookie season was cut short when he suffered a right meniscal tear on April 15, 2021.
With Draymond Green sidelined since January due to back issues, the Warriors' frontcourt rotation has been thin for most of the season. Green indicated Monday that he, too, could be nearing a clean bill of health, circling a March 14 tilt against the Washington Wizards as his intended return date.
Despite the injuries up front, the third-seeded Warriors boast a 43-22 record with 17 regular-season games remaining.
