Atlanta Hawks star guard Trae Young entered the NBA's health and safety protocols Sunday, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

He reportedly wouldn't have played against the Cavaliers on Sunday if the league hadn't postponed the matchup due to an outbreak on Cleveland's roster.

It's unknown how much time the 23-year-old will miss while in protocols. Players must be kept away from the team for at least 10 days, but vaccinated players can return earlier if they register consecutive negative COVID-19 tests taken at least 24 hours apart.

The Hawks next face the Orlando Magic and Philadelphia 76ers back-to-back Wednesday and Thursday before taking on the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Christmas Day.

Young won't be eligible to play until Dec. 29 against the Chicago Bulls if he requires the entire 10-day period.

Young was initially listed as questionable against Cleveland due to left ankle soreness. He's currently the only Hawks player in protocols.
