Sacramento Kings interim head coach Alvin Gentry tested positive for COVID-19 and will not be on the sidelines for Wednesday's game against the Washington Wizards, he told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Assistant coach Doug Christie will serve as the team's acting coach, a source told The Athletic's Sam Amick.

While Gentry said he is largely asymptomatic, he'll need to provide consecutive negative tests 24 hours apart to return to the team.

The Kings canceled their morning shootaround and are testing to determine if there are any more cases, sources told Wojnarowski.

Gentry, 67, was named interim head coach on Nov. 22 after the Kings fired Luke Walton following a 6-11 start. They've gone 5-6 under Gentry's leadership.
