LeBron James is planning to return to the Los Angeles Lakers' lineup for Tuesday's tilt against the New York Knicks, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.

There's increased optimism in the Lakers' camp after James was a full participant in Monday's practice, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. The 36-year-old is reportedly pain-free after several days of rest and again able to elevate and make hard cuts.

James made a pair of appearances starting in late April following a 20-game absence due to a high right ankle sprain. The 36-year-old has since missed the Lakers' last four games after re-aggravating the ailment.

In 43 appearances in 2020-21, James has averaged 25 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 7.8 assists per game for the defending champs.

With just four games left on its regular-season schedule, Los Angeles trails the sixth-seeded Portland Trail Blazers by one game. The Lakers are currently in a play-in spot.
