The reigning NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers hope to visit the White House at some point this season after U.S. President-elect Joe Biden is sworn into office, sources told Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes.

The Lakers are reportedly targeting their lone road game against the Washington Wizards for the visit, though a potential meeting with Biden is also dependent on his schedule and the White House's COVID-19 protocols.

There's no date for Los Angeles' away matchup with Washington, as the league has only released the first half of the schedule, which runs through March 4.

The last NBA team to visit the White House was the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016.

The Golden State Warriors declined the customary visit twice during the Donald Trump administration. In 2019, the Warriors privately met with former President Barack Obama while they were in D.C. to play the Wizards.
