Beverley: Jokic's flailing makes him challenging to guard
Los Angeles Clippers guard Patrick Beverley had an interesting response in regard to the challenge of defending Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic.
"(Jokic) presents the same thing Luka Doncic presents. A lot of flailing. Puts a lot of pressure on the referees to make the right call," Beverley told reporters after the Clippers' Game 3 victory, including ClutchPoints' Tomer Azarly. "I think (Zubac) did a hell of a job. He used all his six fouls. He did what he had to do."
Jokic seemed perplexed when he was informed of Beverley's postgame comments, especially since he attempted only four free throws in Game 3.
"What is a flailing mean? They had 26 free throws, we had 10. I am just showing the ref it is a foul," Jokic said, according to ESPN's Royce Young.
Although Jokic is a solid free-throw shooter, getting to the charity stripe isn't a huge part of his game. The All-Star center has averaged 3.6 free-throw attempts per contest over the course of his five-year NBA career and that figure has remained identically the same during this year's postseason.
Meanwhile, Beverley was fined $5,000 by the league last November for flopping.
