Report: Westbrook intends to play in scrimmage vs. Raptors
Houston Rockets guard Russell Westbrook plans to play in Friday's scrimmage against the Toronto Raptors, sources told ESPN's Tim MacMahon.
Rockets head coach Mike D'Antoni was doubtful Monday that Westbrook would feature in the exhibition contest due to his late arrival to the team's hotel in Orlando.
"I would think Friday might be a little early," D'Antoni said earlier this week. "That'll be up to the medical staff and Russell himself and see how he feels in the days before."
Westbrook arrived at the Disney World resort Monday, 11 days after the team's scheduled travel date. The 31-year-old revealed he had been held back from traveling with the rest of the squad after testing positive for the coronavirus.
Friday's scrimmage will be the first for both the Rockets and Raptors in the NBA's Orlando campus. After taking on Toronto, Houston will face the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday and the Boston Celtics on Tuesday. The Rockets then play their first official game of the season's restart July 31 against the Dallas Mavericks.
