Spurs' Mills donating over $1M to help combat racism in Australia

Patty Mills will suit up for the San Antonio Spurs later in July at Walt Disney World Resort, and the Australian guard intends to donate the roughly $1 million he'll earn by doing so to organizations combating racism, including the Black Lives Matter movement.

"I've made the decision to go to Orlando and I'm proud to say that I'm taking every cent earned from these eight games that we're playing, which for me will turn out to be $1,017,818.54, and donating that directly back to the Black Lives Matter Australia, (Stop) Black Deaths in Custody, and to a recent campaign that's called the We Got You campaign, dedicated to ending racism in sport in Australia," Mills said Wednesday.

"So, I'm playing in Orlando because I don't want to leave any money on the table that could be going directly to Black communities."

The Spurs (27-36) currently sit outside of the playoff picture as the Western Conference's 12-seed. They're scheduled to play their first game of the NBA season restart on July 31 against the Sacramento Kings.
