The NBA will forbid players from traveling to Orlando with their teams if they do not undergo a coronavirus test on one of the two days before the club's scheduled departure, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.

Players who miss the required testing this coming week have to arrange for their own travel to the Walt Disney World Resort, according to a league memo obtained by ESPN's Malika Andrews.

If a player secures a private charter flight or drives to the resort themselves, they reportedly only need two consecutive negative tests to resume basketball activities, Andrews reports. However, if they opt to fly commercially, they apparently need to record three straight negative test results.

Under the NBA's health and safety guidelines, players who have contracted COVID-19 need to test negative twice before they can be cleared to travel, according to Andrews.

Teams are scheduled to begin heading to Orlando between July 7-9.

In the league's most recent testing update, nine more players tested positive for the coronavirus, bringing the total to 25 since June 23. Any player who tests positive must remain in isolation until they satisfy public health protocols and are cleared by a physician.
