It was another night to forget at Madison Square Garden.
With the New York Knicks heading toward their 43rd loss of the 2019-20 season Wednesday, a group of fans were escorted out of the arena for leading a "Sell the team" chant.
An MSG spokesman denied the claim, stating the fans were neither ejected nor escorted out, according to Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News.
However, a video taken by a fan appears to show MSG personnel ushering those involved in the chant from their seats.
One of the fans involved in the chant claims he was threatened with arrest and "interrogated" by security for 15 minutes before leaving the Garden, according to Bondy. He later posted a video on social media showing his group of friends surrounded by security guards and a police officer near the arena's elevators.
It's been a tumultuous past couple of days for the franchise. Longtime Knicks fan Spike Lee teed off on the club Tuesday after he was involved in an altercation with MSG personnel. Earlier Wednesday, fan favorite Charles Oakley backed the filmmaker, calling for the league to look into MSG chairman James Dolan.
New York holds the NBA's fourth-worst record at 19-43 after its 112-104 defeat to the Utah Jazz.
