The New York Knicks and Charlotte Hornets have discussed a deal involving Knicks power forward Julius Randle ahead of the Feb. 6 trade deadline, sources told Kevin O'Connor of The Ringer.

Hornets guards Terry Rozier and Malik Monk, as well as Knicks guard Dennis Smith Jr., have been dangled in discussions about Randle, according to SNY's Ian Begley. There's reportedly no indication as to how much traction the teams have gained in negotiations.

Randle, 25, is averaging 18.9 points and 9.5 rebounds in 49 games with New York this season.

The Kentucky product is in the first season of a three-year, $63-million contract and is eligible for unrestricted free agency in 2022. The final season of Randle's deal is partially guaranteed.

The Knicks appear to have a desire to upgrade at point guard, as the team has also reportedly expressed interest in Golden State Warriors floor general D'Angelo Russell.
