Former Cavs coach Blatt leaves Olympiacos 2 months after MS diagnosis

Former Cleveland Cavaliers head coach David Blatt stepped down from his role with Olympiacos on Sunday, the Greek club announced, according to The Associated Press.

"After a long and respectful discussion between the owners and myself, our two parties have decided it's in the best interest of both sides to part ways," the head coach said in a statement on Olympiacos' website Sunday.

Blatt revealed in August that he had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

Blatt was the Cavaliers' head coach between 2014 and 2016. He led the club to the NBA Finals during his first year in Cleveland, but Blatt was dismissed midway through the Cavs' championship season the following campaign.

The 60-year-old won the 2014 EuroLeague title with Maccabi Tel Aviv and was also named EuroLeague Coach of the Year that season. After the Cavaliers fired him in 2016, he returned to Europe and won the EuroCup competition with Turkish club Darussafaka. Olympiacos then hired him in June 2018.
