Pelicans' Ingram nearing return to normal workouts
New Orleans Pelicans forward Brandon Ingram appears to be making significant progress in his recovery from a blood clot in his right arm.
The 21-year-old told reporters Tuesday that he's "pretty close" to resuming normal workouts. However, he has yet to start shooting and hasn't been given a specific timeline for a return to full basketball activities, according to The Associated Press.
Ingram's 2018-19 campaign was cut short in March when he was diagnosed with deep venous thrombosis. He had the blood clot removed and underwent thoracic outlet decompression surgery to ensure improved blood flow and complete recovery.
The Los Angeles Lakers - Ingram's former team - had expected him to be ready for the 2019-20 season.
Ingram posted career highs in minutes (33.8), points (18.3), and effective field-goal percentage (51.8 percent) last year.
The former No. 2 overall pick was acquired by the Pelicans in the Anthony Davis blockbuster deal.
