Report: Irving expected to be day-to-day with knee injury

Kyrie Irving's right knee sprain isn't serious and he's expected to be day-to-day, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Boston Celtics guard exited in the second quarter of Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Clippers after appearing to tweak his knee on a defensive possession. He was subsequently ruled out for the rest of the contest.

Following the 26-year-old's departure, the Celtics would go on to blow a 28-point lead to a Clippers team that just traded its leading scorer, Tobias Harris, to the Philadelphia 76ers. Los Angeles took the road win 123-112.

The six-time All-Star has dealt with knee injuries in recent years. He most notably underwent a procedure to remove screws from his left knee - which were originally implanted after suffering a patellar fracture in the 2015 NBA Finals - last March. Irving ultimately missed the Celtics' run to the Eastern Conference finals last spring.

Irving is averaging 23.6 points and 6.9 assists through 47 appearances this season.
