Longtime head coach Stan Van Gundy will join ESPN as a studio analyst, according to the New York Post's Andrew Marchand.
Van Gundy was fired from his role as president and head coach of the Detroit Pistons this summer after failing to reach the playoffs for the third time in four seasons. He has also been the bench boss for the Orlando Magic and Miami Heat.
Despite a frustrating tenure in Motown, Van Gundy remained interested in another head coaching position, but had no desire in returning to a front-office role.
Van Gundy's younger brother Jeff has been with the sports media powerhouse as a color commentator since 2007.
