Fifteen-year NBA veteran David West announced his retirement on Thursday.

"I have been fortunate enough to live out my childhood dream of playing in the NBA," he wrote. "To anyone who has ever cheered me on, been in my corner, prayed or simply said a nice word on my behalf, I am grateful."

West finished his career by winning back-to-back NBA championships in a reserve role with the Golden State Warriors. Prior to that, he was one of the league's better power forwards with New Orleans and Indiana.

A two-time All-Star, West averaged 13.6 points and 6.4 rebounds on 49.5 percent shooting across 1,034 career games.
