It's the end of an era in Cleveland.
The Cavaliers have waived veteran center Kendrick Perkins, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski on Tuesday.
ESPN's Dave McMenamin reported in late June that the team had picked up Perkins' $2.5-million option, intending to use his salary as part of a potential trade ahead of free agency.
Brought in purely as a presence on the bench and a mentor for the Cavs ahead of their playoff run this year, the 33-year-old played in the last game of the regular season, scoring three points and grabbing a rebound.
