KD thinks active free agency this summer 'will make the league better'

A common counterargument against criticism of this year's relatively perfunctory 2018 Finals is that the onus now lies on the rest of the league to catch up to the juggernaut Golden State Warriors, now owners of three of the past four NBA championships.

Not only does Warriors star Kevin Durant echo that sentiment, he's actively encouraging players to team up this summer to try and steal his team's throne.

"I want to see that movement," Durant told Sports Illustrated's Lee Jenkins. "I think it will make the league better."

While the two-time Finals MVP has stated his desire to re-sign with the Warriors, there are more than a handful of big-name free agents or All-Star-caliber talents who could be moved via trade this summer.

Of course, Cleveland Cavaliers icon LeBron James is expected to decline his player option for next season, and would be the free-agent acquisition of a generation. Other unrestricted free agents include Paul George, Chris Paul, injured center DeMarcus Cousins, Isaiah Thomas, J.J. Redick, and former All-Stars Dwyane Wade, Rajon Rondo, Brook Lopez, and Tony Parker.

Add in players with options - player or team - and restricted free agents like DeAndre Jordan, Carmelo Anthony, Clint Capela, Julius Randle, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon, Zach LaVine, Rudy Gay, and Jeremy Lin, and there's plenty of potential for any number of teams to undergo a face-lift this summer.

Durant may just get his wish.
