Mavs employee removed from role after reportedly disregarding misconduct
One Dallas Mavericks executive, who was said to have turned a blind eye to rampant workplace misconduct, has been removed from his role. George Prokos, who held the position of vice president of ticket sales, has been replaced by George Killebrew, Mavericks CEO Cynthia Marshall confirmed to Deadspin's Diana Moskovitz.
Prokos' department reportedly often dealt with verbal abuse, and a former team employee, Chris Hyde, became widely known among the corporate office as "Pants DJ" due to his proclivity to watch pornography at work unencumbered by intervention from his superiors, anonymous Mavericks employees told the Dallas Morning News' Brandon George and Eddie Sefko.
Marshall did not confirm to Deadspin whether Prokos was still employed by the Mavericks, citing the lack of transparency as "employee privacy matters." The Mavericks' vice president of corporate communications and events, Erin Finegold, released a statement on the Prokos issue:
"In the interest of fairness and employee privacy, we cannot comment on individual personnel matters. The Dallas Mavericks are committed to creating a safe and healthy environment where our employees can be proud to work."
That statement differed from a previous - purportedly unapproved - one from team spokesperson Sarah Melton, who made additional claims that the team was "confident" it had "taken appropriate action," and said the Mavericks' investigation was still underway.
When contacted by Deadspin, Prokos gave no comment about his current status with the Mavericks.
