Newly hired Atlanta Hawks head coach Lloyd Pierce has begun assembling his nascent coaching staff.
Pierce has hired Dallas Mavericks assistant coach Melvin Hunt to serve as his lead assistant in Atlanta, sources told The Undefeated's Marc J. Spears.
Hunt has spent 16 seasons as an NBA assistant, with stops in Houston, Los Angeles, Cleveland, and Denver before his most recent stint in Dallas. He spent 23 games as Nuggets interim head coach after Brian Shaw was fired in 2015.
