Celts' Morris: I must guard LeBron better, but Cavs won't be as dominant in Game 4

It's a tired sports cliche used to describe legends for decades, but this much we know: You cannot stop LeBron James, you can only hope to contain him.

Whether he can even be contained is open to debate, but either way, he scored 27 points on 67 percent shooting in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals Saturday and also dished out 12 assists. As a result, his Cleveland Cavaliers have cut the Boston Celtics' lead in half, 2-1.

Celts forward Marcus Morris, the man tasked with defending James for the bulk of the series, took responsibility Sunday.

"Personally, I think I did a (poor) job defensively with LeBron," Morris said after practice, per ASAP Sports. "He was too comfortable when I was guarding him. I made myself very vulnerable on screens and wasn't disciplined. We can't have that in a game of this magnitude, and it showed. They did a great job of exposing that. Personally, I think I have to do better."

The story for the Cavs throughout the playoffs hasn't so much been LeBron's performance as much as what his teammates have been able to provide. He logged a 42-point triple-double in Game 2, but the rest of Cleveland's starters totaled just 33 points in a 107-94 loss. On Saturday, James was able to find teammates like George Hill and J.R. Smith open for 3-pointers, something that has been a challenge for them at times during the postseason.

Morris is confident the Cavs won't be clicking the same way in Monday's Game 4.

"That team we saw yesterday, I'm 100 percent sure it won't be the same team on Monday," Morris said. "After watching film, we did a lot of things that caused us to be in the position that we're in. I said before, control the controllables, and we didn't do that."
