Raptors' Wright not happy with Oubre's assessment of his play on the road

The bad blood in the Washington Wizards-Toronto Raptors series appears to have spread to the teams' secondary characters.

Following Toronto's Game 5 win Wednesday night, Kelly Oubre was one of a few Wizards expressing confidence in heading back to Washington trailing the Raptors 3-2.

"We're back at home," Oubre told The Washington Post's Candace Buckner. "Just like Delon (Wright) doesn't play well anywhere else, you know, other than at home ... you can kind of chalk it up as the same story."

Oubre's shot at the Raptors' backup guard is based in fact from the series so far. In three home wins, Wright is averaging 15.6 points on 54 percent shooting. In two losses in D.C., he's shot 33 percent and averaged just 6.5 points. In Game 4, he passed up more than one open 3-pointer.

On Thursday, however, Wright took issue with Oubre's assessment.

"I mean, that's his opinion," he said, according to TSN's Josh Lewenberg. "I didn't play as good as I did at home there, but he made it seem like I was just a total bust. We'll see in Game 6."

Then, as he walked off the media podium, Wright added, "I've got a quote ready for (Oubre) after we win," according to Lewenberg.

The Raptors snatched victory from the jaws of a third-quarter malaise Wednesday by running a little-used closing lineup of Wright, Kyle Lowry, DeMar DeRozan, C.J. Miles, and Jonas Valanciunas. Toronto is also hoping to have another bench cog, Fred VanVleet, back in the lineup after suffering a shoulder injury.
