Golden State Warriors forward and reigning NBA Finals Most Valuable Player Kevin Durant was named among Time Magazine's 100 most influential people in the world for 2018, the publication announced Thursday.

In February, Durant revealed he was donating $10 million to College Track - a 10-year program devoted to helping disadvantaged children in his hometown of Prince George's County, Md., get to college.

"As an entrepreneur, KD brings the same relentless work ethic and pursuit of excellence that he has on the court, focusing on companies and products that are making lives better," wrote Eddie Cue, a senior vice president at Apple, on behalf of Time's list.

"Above all, he has ridden the ups and downs of following his heart, making a hard choice and taking control of his own career - and has emerged wiser, happier, with his head held high. He’s a role model for us all."

Other athletes to make the 2018 list include J.J. Watt (football), Roger Federer (tennis), Chloe Kim (snowboarding), and Virat Kohli (cricket)
