Minnesota Timberwolves shooting guard Jimmy Butler underwent successful surgery Sunday morning to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee and is expected to be sidelined indefinitely as a result, the team announced.

Though the Timberwolves did not specify a timetable for Butler's recovery, it was reported Saturday the 28-year-old is expected to miss four-to-six weeks with the injury.

Butler was injured with 3:19 remaining in the third quarter of Friday's contest against the Houston Rockets. After fighting for his own rebound, Butler dished the ball to Taj Gibson in the paint but appeared to tweak his right knee in the process as he planted his leg on the floor. He immediately fell to the court in considerable pain and had to be helped to the locker room.

Butler is averaging 22.2 points, 5.4 rebounds, and five assists this season.
