'Trust the Process' original Wroten hopes to rejoin 76ers

The Process is finally paying off, and one of the original members wants to come back and enjoy the fruits of failure.

Tony Wroten took to Twitter on Thursday to praise the Philadelphia 76ers and express his desire to return.

The 6-foot-6 combo guard played for the Sixers from 2013-2015 - the bulk of the Sam Hinkie era, when the team tanked to a 47-195 record. The executive was criticized heavily for his club's performance and blatantly exploiting the draft system. He resigned in April 2016.

Hinkie deserves credit for laying the foundation in Philly, having hired Brett Brown, picked up Robert Covington, and ensured the team was bad enough to net high lottery picks Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons. That core has been instrumental in the Sixers' 10-7 start this season, and could very well lead them to the playoffs for the first time in six years.

Wroten wants to be part of that. The 24-year-old led the team in scoring in 2014-15 with 16.9 points per game before suffering a partially torn ACL and undergoing surgery. He was never the same afterward, and was waived by Philly on Christmas Eve in 2015.

The New York Knicks and Memphis Grizzlies later gave him a shot, but he failed to latch on with either team. He last suited up in the NBA last preseason in one game for the Grizz.

He has career averages of 11.1 points on 41.3 percent shooting from the field and just 23.1 percent from long range, to go along with 2.6 rebounds and three dimes over 145 contests.
