The Denver Nuggets have released point guard Jameer Nelson, sources told The Vertical's Shams Charania.

The Nuggets were already thin at point guard, but that seemingly didn't stop them from parting ways with a guy who started 39 games at the position for them last year, picking up the slack for a sometimes-injured, oft-struggling Emmanuel Mudiay.

Nelson had a fully guaranteed year left on his contract, valued at approximately $4.7 million. He averaged 9.2 points and 5.1 assists with a .444/.388/.714 shooting line across 75 games in 2016-17. The Nuggets were 5.2 points per 100 possessions better with him on the floor.
