Report: Tyreke Evans agrees to 1-year, $3.3M deal with Grizzlies

Is there a bird in the room? Because the Memphis Grizzlies just got themselves a former NBA Rookie of the Year on the cheap, cheap, cheap.

Tyreke Evans has agreed to a one-year, $3.3-million contract with the Grizzlies, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The 27-year-old spent the last 14 games of the 2016-17 regular season with the Sacramento Kings, which was his second stint with the franchise after being dealt from the New Orleans Pelicans in a package for DeMarcus Cousins.

Since capturing Rookie of the Year honors back in 2010, Evans' career has been on a downward trajectory, primarily due to the injuries he's incurred over the years, including several procedures on his right knee.

This is a low-risk, high-reward move for the Grizzlies, especially if Evans - who played his only year of college ball with the Memphis Tigers - can stay on the floor and contribute. He averaged 11.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in a limited role with Sacramento, splitting time between the starting lineup and the bench unit.

Evans will also join former Kings teammate Ben McLemore, who signed with the Grizzlies for $10.7 million over two years. Ironically enough, two key players from last year's Memphis squad are on the move to Sacramento, with Vince Carter and Zach Randolph leaving as unrestricted free agents.
