With the 10th pick in Thursday's NBA draft, the Portland Trail Blazers selected Gonzaga center Zach Collins.

The Blazers reportedly acquired the pick while sending the 15th and 20th picks to Sacramento.

The 19-year-old 7-footer had a strong freshman season for the nation's second-ranked team, averaging 10 points (on 65.2 percent shooting), 5.9 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks (good for second in the West Coast Conference) in just 17.3 minutes per game. Collins also had a big hand in the Bulldogs' run to the national championship game. He provided sturdy back-line defense, blocking three shots per game to earn All-Tournament team honors.

Collins' greatest assets are his combination of size and quickness, and his instincts as a help defender. He has good hands and nice touch, and even flashed an ability to stretch the floor, shooting 10-of-21 from 3-point range in his lone college season.

There are concerns about whether he'll be able to defend without fouling (he averaged 5.6 per 36 minutes this season), and how he'll deal with the increased physicality in the NBA. For the time being, he lacks playmaking skills, and hasn't shown much ability to read the floor. But as a rim protector who can develop into a floor spacer, he fits the mould of the modern big quite nicely.
