Andrew Bogut's tenure with the Cleveland Cavaliers was less than two minutes old when he broke his left leg Monday night.
Moments after entering his first game as a Cavalier, Bogut collided with Miami Heat forward Okaro White on a closeout, taking a knee to the left shin. He hobbled to the sideline and needed to be helped to the locker room, unable to put any weight on his left leg. Bogut seemed to know immediately that he'd broken it.
The team announced that Bogut suffered a fractured left tibia and was taken to the Cleveland Clinic for further imaging and evaluation, with updates on his status and recovery timetable to come.
Bogut signed with the Cavs after being bought out by the Philadelphia 76ers, who acquired him from the Dallas Mavericks in a deadline-day trade. The 32-year-old averaged three points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and a block in 26 games with the Mavs this season.
