Report: Pelicans have inquired about Kings' Cousins, Pacers' George
The New Orleans Pelicans are looking to make a major splash at this year's trade deadline.
New Orleans has inquired about Sacramento Kings center DeMarcus Cousins and Indiana Pacers small forward Paul George, league sources tell ESPN's Justin Verrier. The Kings, however, remain intent on keeping their 6-foot-11 All-Star center.
Both players have just one year remaining on their contracts after this season, putting their long-term futures with their respective teams in question. However, Cousins has said on many occasions that he would prefer to stay in Sacramento, and is intent on signing a $219-million extension with the Kings this summer. George, meanwhile, has given Indiana mixed signals, saying earlier this week that he wants to play for a team capable of winning a championship.
Cousins is averaging 27.8 points, 10.7 rebounds, 4.9 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.3 blocks on 45.1 percent shooting for Sacramento, while George is averaging 22.3 points, 6.2 boards, 3.3 dimes, and 1.6 steals for the Pacers.
It's unclear what the Pelicans could realistically give up in a potential deal without sacrificing Anthony Davis, but would likely need to include both rookie Buddy Hield and a bevy of picks.
