Watch: Klay Thompson drops 40 in 1st half vs. Pacers
Klay Thompson wasn't lying when he said he wouldn't be sacrificing s*** this season.
Despite being the nominal fourth banana on the most stacked team in NBA history, the Golden State Warriors shooting guard is making his presence felt, and it's scarcely ever been felt as profoundly as it was in the first half against the Indiana Pacers on Monday night.
Like he did with his record-setting 37-point quarter two seasons ago, Thompson shot his way into some kind of out-of-body experience. He started shooting, got red-hot, kept shooting, stayed hot, sent his teammates into hysterics on the sideline, then shot some more. When the dust settled and the first-half buzzer sounded, he had 40 points on 15-of-22 shooting, in 18 minutes of action, and the Warriors had an 80-50 lead.
It's the NBA's first 40-point first half in more than 13 years.
