Knicks' Derrick Rose: Cleared of assault allegations
Federal court jurors cleared Rose (personal) on Wednesday in the $21.5 million civil lawsuit he was facing for sexual assault allegations, Al Iannazzone of Newsday reports.
Analysis:
Rose had been away from the Knicks for more than two weeks to attend the trial proceedings in Los Angeles, but with the jury rejecting the lawsuit, he's expected to rejoin the team in short order and won't be subject to any league discipline. Given his lack of practice time with the Knicks of late, Rose has already been ruled out for the team's final two preseason games, set for Wednesday against the Celtics and Thursday against the Nets. The Knicks won't hold an official practice following the back-to-back set, but Rose could be in the gym Friday in an attempt to regain conditioning. Coach Jeff Hornacek said that Rose would then get three practices over the following three days before stepping into the starting lineup for the Oct. 25 regular-season opener against the Cavaliers.
