The Memphis Grizzlies may be honing in on a new head coach.
Amidst an expansive search that's included several assistant coaches around the league, Miami Heat assistant and player-development director David Fizdale has reportedly emerged as a leading candidate.
Fizdale's candidacy is "gaining serious momentum," ESPN's Marc Stein reports. Fizdale reportedly had a strong first interview, prompting the team to invite him back to Memphis for a second sit-down.
The Grizzlies, who parted ways with Dave Joerger after the conclusion of the regular season, have also reportedly engaged in talks with the following assistants: Mike D'Antoni (76ers), Adrian Griffin (Magic), James Borrego (Spurs), Ettore Messina (Spurs), Patrick Ewing (Hornets), Stephen Silas (Hornets), Rex Kalamian (Raptors), Nate Tibbetts (Blazers), and their own assistant Jeff Bzdelik.
