Seven-time NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson announced Wednesday that 2020 will be his final season as a full-time driver.
Johnson, who's driven for Hendrick Motorsports for his entire Cup Series career, will discuss his decision during a press conference on Thursday alongside team owner Rick Hendrick, according to Motor Racing Network.
The 44-year-old Johnson is widely considered one of the greatest drivers in auto racing history. He's the owner of 83 Cup wins, and his record-tying seven Cup titles are only equaled by Dale Earnhardt and Richard Petty.
Among Johnson's other accomplishments are five straight Cup titles from 2006-10, two victories at the Daytona 500, four wins at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and a record 11 wins at Dover International Speedway.
However, Johnson hasn't won a Cup race since June 2017.
His current contract with Hendrick Motorsports is set to expire following the 2020 season.
