Todd Parrott suspended indefinitely due to violation of substance abuse policy

NASCAR announced today that they've suspended crew chief Todd Parrot indefinitely for violating the sanctioning body's Substance Abuse Policy, as well as violating Section 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing) as per the 2013 NASCAR Rule Book.

Parrott has been a crew chief for 18 years, currently chiefing for Aric Almirola in the No. 43 car for Richard Petty Motorsports. He's best known for being Dale Jarrett's crew chief during his 1999 championship run, and was the originator of kissing the bricks at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Richard Petty Motorsports competition director Sammy Johns will take over as interim crew chief.
