Dos Anjos dismisses significance of McGregor's weight jump
UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos mercilessly mocked Conor McGregor after the Irish superstar was upset by Nate Diaz at UFC 196.
Dos Anjos was supposed to fight McGregor during Saturday's marquee event but bowed out due to a broken foot. Diaz replaced Dos Anjos and stunned McGregor during the second round.
Afterwards, Dos Anjos sneered at the characterization of McGregor moving up two weight classes to fight Diaz, pointing out that the UFC 196 winner usually fights at 155 pounds.
"A lot of people say, ‘Ah, Conor went up two weight divisions.' No. Nate Diaz, he's a 155-pound fighter. He's a lightweight. And (McGregor) is saying that, ‘I went up two weight divisions.' No. He did not fight Robbie Lawler. He did not fight Johny Hendricks. He fought Nate Diaz, which is 155," Dos Anjos said Monday on The MMA Hour.
It wasn't the first time Dos Anjos has commented on McGregor's weight jump, as he called the featherweight champion "soft" and said he believed he was God.
Moreover, Dos Anjos was highly critical of McGregor's decision to tap out.
"I think everybody saw the truth last Saturday and he got submitted," Dos Anjos said. "Even Holly Holm, she went to sleep without tapping. He tapped. Bro, how are you going to tap on the neck, on the choke? Go to sleep, man. Be a man."
