Chris Weidman: Defeat at UFC 194 was 'a loss that I needed and deserved'
World champions and undefeated fighters are dropping like flies and a key part of the narrative is how the vanquished react to the fallout.
Just days after losing the UFC middleweight championship, Chris Weidman took to social media to let everyone know how he's doing:
In an Instagram post, Weidman expressed gratitude for the humbling experience and described the first defeat of his career as one that he "needed and deserved."
The co-main event of UFC 194 was a back-and-forth battle between Weidman and Luke Rockhold, which saw Rockhold pull ahead in the third round and eventually finish Weidman early in the fourth in brutal fashion.
Weidman's response was consistent with his down-to-earth approach to the sport. On fight night, he invited a fan with cerebral palsy and cancer to accompany him during his walkout.
