Weidman accuses Belfort of cheating ahead of UFC 187: 'I'm going to make him pay for it'
Chris Weidman threw some verbal punches at Vitor Belfort ahead of their middleweight title fight at UFC 187 on Saturday.
Weidman alleged Friday that Belfort was cheating ahead of their upcoming bout.
"I left him alone with this whole drug test thing, but then we just found out that during camp he had a 1,200 testosterone score," Weidman said to Joe Rogan. "I'm 10 years younger than him and he's got a way higher testosterone level. This guy is still cheating, and I'm going to make him pay for it tomorrow night."
Belfort has set a precedent of using performance-enhancers, testing positive for 4-Hydroxytestosterone after an October 2006 loss to Dan Henderson. Moreover, Belfort used Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) in 2013 victories over Henderson, Michael Bisping, and Luke Rockhold.
While it was considered legal at the time of all three wins, the Nevada State Athletic Commission outlawed TRT in February 2014.
Belfort sports a 24-10 record, knocking Henderson out with a head kick in his last bout in November 2013.
Weidman enters the fight with a perfect 12-0 record, with his last win coming against Lyoto Machida via unanimous decision at UFC 175. The 30-year-old American gained notoriety after defeating Anderson Silva in consecutive fights, the latter bout where Silva's leg fractured after Weidman defended a kick.
