Neil Magny has replaced Geoff Neal in a welterweight bout against Ian Machado Garry at UFC 292 on Aug. 19 in Boston, the promotion announced Thursday.

Neal dropped out of the fight due to an undisclosed health issue, his management team told MMA Junkie's Mike Bohn.

Garry said in a video Wednesday that he intended to remain on the card. He mentioned Magny as a potential new opponent.

Garry, one of the hottest up-and-comers in the 170-pound division, will still receive a step up in competition when he meets the 11th-ranked Magny. Garry has won five straight, including three by knockout, since starting his UFC career in 2021. The 25-year-old Irishman, ranked No. 13, most recently finished Daniel Rodriguez in the first round in May.

Magny (28-10) is the UFC's all-time wins leader in the welterweight division. In his most recent bout, the 36-year-old scored a split-decision win over Philip Rowe in June. It was a bounce-back performance for the veteran after suffering a first-round submission loss to Gilbert Burns at UFC 283 in January.

Neal was hoping to bounce back from a March submission loss to Shavkat Rakhmonov. The 32-year-old had won two straight before that result, including a highlight-reel TKO of Vicente Luque in August 2022. Neal is No. 8 at welterweight.

UFC 292 will feature a bantamweight title bout between champion Aljamain Sterling and Sean O'Malley.
