UFC allowed to stage next 2 events at Las Vegas Apex

The Nevada State Athletic Commission gave the UFC permission Wednesday to host its next two cards at the promotion's Apex in Las Vegas, according to Damon Martin of MMAFighting.com.

Previously, the UFC had to scramble for event locations due to the coronavirus pandemic. The promotion's next two events are scheduled for May 30 (Tyron Woodley versus Gilbert Burns) and June 6 (Amanda Nunes versus Felicia Spencer).

The UFC was granted use of the Apex after the state of Nevada loosened COVID-19 protocols.

The Apex opened in June 2019 as a 130,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art production facility. The venue hosted the last season of "Dana White's Contender Series."

Las Vegas hasn't housed a UFC event since March 7, when Israel Adesanya defended his middleweight championship against Yoel Romero in the main event of UFC 248.

The UFC held its three most recent events in Jacksonville because Florida deemed professional sports "essential," paving the way for the company to operate without fans in attendance.
