Khabib-Ferguson title fight set for April 18 in Brooklyn

Khabib Nurmagomedov is set to defend his lightweight title against Tony Ferguson after the latter signed his contract, Ferguson's representatives told ESPN's Brett Okamoto.

UFC president Dana White first disclosed earlier this week that the promotion was targeting an April 18 card for the blockbuster matchup, and Khabib's team announced shortly thereafter that he had signed his agreement.

Ferguson locking things in officially rebooks a fight that's been years in the making, with four previous arrangements falling through before the stars could meet in the Octagon.

Nurmagomedov remains a perfect 12-0 in the UFC and 28-0 in his career after defending his belt with submission wins over Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier in his last two fights.

Long considered one of the few fighters capable of challenging Khabib, Ferguson enters the highly anticipated showdown boasting an impressive resume of his own. Now 25-3 as a professional, the 35-year-old is on a 12-fight win streak dating back to October 2013.
