Valentina Shevchenko will defend her UFC flyweight championship against Katlyn Chookagian on a Feb. 8 pay-per-view card, sources told ESPN's Ariel Helwani.

Whether the event is labeled UFC 246 or UFC 247 depends on whether Conor McGregor returns for a targeted Jan. 18 fight. If he does, his card will be UFC 246 and Shevchenko's will be UFC 247.

A site for the Feb. 8 event hasn't been finalized, but it's expected to take place in Houston.

Shevchenko is coming off a unanimous decision over Liz Carmouche in August, which marked her second defense of the flyweight title. "Bullet" owns a career record of 18-3, but all three of her losses came as a bantamweight.

Chookagian, the top-ranked flyweight contender, is 13-2. She's won her last two bouts by unanimous decision. All eight of her UFC fights have gone to the judges' scorecards.
